A Sincere Man [Trailer]

A Sincere Man [Trailer]

Hi. I edit movies. Trailers are movies. So I edit movie trailers.

Here's a trailer I edited for a neo-realist avant-garde noir film shot in Havana, Cuba — by Brian Deutzman. May it pour gifts of blissfulness all over your cabeza.

The cinematography is beautiful, and of “fine art” caliber … And there’s the novelty of a movie shot in immediately post-Castro Cuba. Those elements alone guided the construction. I followed the model of most Criterion Collection movie trailers, which emphasized the more “beautiful” and “sublime” aspects of a movie’s aesthetic, while relying on the text to describe what the story contained within is all about.

This is different from the usual Hollywood movie trailer that places extra emphasis on the celebrity / taboo / technological spectacle offered.
