People think documentaries tell the truth.
This is why we have The History Channel, The Learning Channel, and The Discovery Channel.
The assumption here is that these channels, with their documentary-styled programming, are giving you cold, hard, objective FACTS about life.
Documentaries do not tell the truth.
They simply present images, sounds, and information that's based in reality.
But the movie itself is an aesthetic construction.
Films are always emotional, artistic, subjective, & with a specific point of view.
This is important to remember as you make (and watch) documentaries.
