"Think about this: in the 1700s, Mozart, just to survive (and barely survive), had to write pieces of music geared to the aristocrats who paid him to do this. That was the only way for him to make money, as there wasn't a large group of people who had the time or money to see him perform.
However, 25 years later, Beethoven could fill a concert hall with hordes of people who had the time and money to come to listen to him.
Paganini, a name much less familiar than Mozart and whom many people many not have even heard of, could also fill concert halls and live a good life, as there was people who had the time and money to attend a concert.
There was also others with questionable talent who made a good living, as the demand for entertainment exceeded the available talent.
Life had changed, and there was now a group of people who had the time to be entertained. Too bad Mozart wasn't born a few years later, as he could have had a much easier life."
