What Is the Evolutionary Purpose of Art?

According to anthropolgists at Standford & University of California Berkely, there's two primary evolutionary functions to art:

1) Art advertises the quality of your neural-circuitry. Like peacock feathers, art displays our brain's health This enhances your survival in society & increases your probability of mating.

2) Art is communication with symbols. It began as a utility of symbolic communication. Because we're so highly cognitive today, we're not so constrained by having art to be utilitarian anymore.
