Lessons in Disruption

Lessons in Disruption

Last week I finished reading "The Ways to New: 15 Paths to Disruptive Innovation" by Jean-Marie Dru. He is the chairman of the TBWA advertising agency.

This agency is responsible for some of the biggest and best known advertising campaigns, for example Apple's 1984 Macintosh Super Bowl commercial, and the "Think Different" campaign. Their clients include McDonalds, L'Oreal, Apple, Airbnb, and more.

This book talks about the 15 modern methods the agency uses with their clients to achieve innovative "disruptive" campaigns and/or business model restructuring.

For the next week, I will share 7 of my favorite ideas that Mr. Dru writes about in his book.

The lessons will be rephrased to fit the craft of filmmaking.

"Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two - and only two - basic functions: marketing and innovation.

Marketing and innovation produce results:
all the rest are costs."
